Detroit thumped San Diego to get a wild card for the playoffs, while knocking the Chargers out for their second consecutive season. Denver will face their former QB Kyle Orton as they try to wrap up the AFC West in the last game of the season. A win by the Broncos or a loss by Oakland is needed by Denver.

The Jets still have a slight chance to make it to the playoffs, but face the improved Miami Dolphins this weekend. Miami played New England very tough and should be tough for the Jets to face on the road. Dree Brees passed Dan Marino’s single season passing record for yardage on Monday Night Football against the Jets. They are still slugging it out with San Francisco for the No. 2 seed in the NFC. New Orleans will be at home against Carolina while San Francisco plays at St. Louis. Philadelphia was eliminated from the playoffs by the Giants win last week. They finish the season at home against Washington and I’m thinking a lot of NFC teams are glad they will be at home during the playoffs. They have played very well after their earlier slump.
