Bowl season got started last weekend and the usual trend held true. 2 out of 3 underdogs won, which is quite common in bowl games before New Years. Ohio pulled off the upset over Utah State in the Idaho Potato Bowl and Louisiana-Lafayette got the win over San Diego St. in the New Orleans Bowl. The only favorite to win was Temple in a 37-15 victory over Wyoming in the New Mexico Bowl.
Tuesday night kicks off this week with the Beef ‘O’ Brady’s Bowl between Florida International and Marshall. FIU is a 4 ½ point favorite in this contest. Wednesday is the Poinsettia Bowl featuring #16 TCU against Louisiana Tech. TCU is a 9 ½ point favorite in the game.
Thursday brings us the MAACO Bowl, matching Arizona St. against #8 Boise St. Boise is a 2 touchdown favorite, which might be a bit much in this game. The Sun Devils have a good offense, and should at least be able to slow down the Broncos.
Rounding out the week is the Hawaii Bowl on Saturday, with Nevada playing #22 Southern Miss. Southern Miss is a 6 point favorite and probably should have been in a bigger bowl after the way they played this season.
There are many different types of bets your can make on the bowl games these next few weeks. Besides the spread and totals in all of the games, you can also bet parlays and teasers. Also look for lines by the half and by quarter. There should be some interesting prop bets listed also. So have fun betting the games. It’s a long time until next season.
