The month of March gives way to April in what should be a great weekend for sports bettors at America’s Bookie. The betting board is highlighted by this Saturday night’s Final Four showdowns in the 2017 NCAA Tournament on the men’s side while this year’s Final Four in the women’s NCAA Tournament is set for Friday night.
Both the NBA and NHL regular seasons continue to grind to a close in anticipation of this year’s postseason push to a world title and there are several matchups over the next few days that could have a big impact on the actual playoff field for both sports.
If you love to bet on horses, then both Gulfstream Park in Florida and Fair Grounds Race Course in Louisiana offers up some great betting action on Saturday’s race card. The main event at Gulfstream is the $1 million Grade 1 Florida Derby, while the $1 million Grade 2 Louisiana Derby is the featured race at Fair Grounds. The results of both races are bound to have a major impact on the actual 20-horse field for this year’s Kentucky Derby at Churchill Downs in early May.
There is also plenty of action at America’s Bookie this weekend for soccer, both in the MLS and in several international matches and the PGA Tour makes a stop in Texas for the Shell Houston Open as the top golfers in the world continue to prepare for next week’s stop at Augusta National for the tour’s first Major of the year; The Masters. The Miami Open continues this weekend for both the ATP and WTA tennis tour and NASCAR’s Monster Energy Cup Series returns to the East Coast for Sunday’s STP 500 at Martinsville Speedway in Southwest Virginia.
While there is something for anyone looking to cash a ticket at America’s Bookie over the next three days, most of the action continues to pour in on this year’s men’s Final Four. Saturday’s first semifinal showdown in a 6:09 p.m. (ET) start on CBS pits the Gonzaga Bulldogs, out of the West Coast Conference against the surprising SEC’s South Carolina Gamecocks. The Bulldogs are currently listed as 6.5-point favorites with the total set at 138.
Gonzaga’s perfect 4-0 straight-up (1-2-1 against the spread) run to this round included a convincing 83-59 pasting of Xavier as a 6.5-point favorite in the Elite 8 Round. The Gamecocks punched their ticket to Glendale, Arizona with an incredible 4-0 run both SU and ATS that included three-straight upsets as underdogs. The total has stayed UNDER in three of the Bulldogs’ first four tournament games and it has gone OVER in three of South Carolina’s last four contests.
The second semifinal matchup between the Pac-12’s Oregon Ducks and the ACC’s North Carolina Tar Heels is set to get underway at 8:49 p.m. on CBS. The Tar Heels come in as five-point favorites on America’s Bookie current betting line and the total for this game has been set at 152. North Carolina had to get past Kentucky to get back to the Final Four in a tight 75-73 victory last Saturday in a game that ended as a PUSH. The Tar Heels are 2-1-1 ATS in tournament play and the total has been evenly split at 2-2.
Oregon’s run through the Midwest Region culminated with an impressive 74-60 romp over Kansas as a 6.5-point underdog after squeezing past Michigan 69-68 in the Sweet 16 in a game that closed as a PICK. The Ducks are now 3-1 ATS in their last four games with the total evenly split 2-2 as well.
Futures’ odds at America’s Bookie have North Carolina listed as a +145 favorite to go on and win Monday night’s NCAA Championship Game followed closely by Gonzaga at +145. Oregon’s odds to win it all are set at +450 and South Carolina has the longest odds on the board at +700 to keep its magical run going all the way to a national title.
